January is a time of transitions and adaptations. It will challenge you in ways you could never anticipate. It will force you to summon more strength than you knew was possible. As I write this, the current temperature is -37 degrees Fahrenheit with wind chill. I’m cuddled up under a blanket, next to my radiator, wearing footie pajamas, because of course I am!

This arctic snap is a far cry from the crisp clean cool of the Pacific Northwest. My time in Oregon is never long enough, but I look forward to this being the year of two conventions. It might make up for the year without a Bizarro Con, which was dark times indeed. Our Bizarro Writers Association meeting was a highlight of the trip, and gave me a great many ideas for continuing projects. I will be tackling some upgrades to a genre website, along with two other editors working on content. Varekai and I squared away a few moments to shoot a new set, which was very satisfying. You’ll all be seeing the fruits of that labor in due course. Aside from work, I spent quality time with my fellow bizarros in the heated saltwater soaking pool. It is truly special to float your cares away down the lazy lagoon, gazing up at an impossibly dense sky of stars. I find a melancholy joy in watching Mount Hood slip away into the tree line as we drive into Portland proper. Mountains have always struck me as majestic. I cannot wait to return to them. In the meantime, I’m thinking warmer thoughts in sweet home Chicago.

020 - Allure of Albion (11).jpg

Shot by a traveling man of many talents, ScaredyLion, on a breezy day downtown. You can see Marina Towers in the background from the balcony. It was fun looking out onto the city below while I sensuously stripped out of my gown. As I leaned over the rail, I waved to some window washers just before we finished the photoshoot. VIP Patrons are getting the full 22 image photoset, and Backstage Patrons also get 13 beyond-the-set images this month! Be sure you're logged in on my site to view the images. Feel free to give the set some love by leaving a comment or clicking the heart below. As always, thank you to all my Patrons. You make art happen.
