July came in like a hurricane! I celebrated 6 years of Grotesque Burlesque Figure Modeling Club with their gallery opening anniversary party. Little did I know when I arrived, not only would there be my visage on display, there would be some rendition of myself and/or my partner on every wall. Not only did a plethora of artists use our session as catalyst for their work, but one in particular would take it to a grand scale. An oil painting hung at the end of the gallery, the focal point of the room, would be a pose we took in February rendered by the utmost skillful hand of Brit Thill. You can see the painting here and a photo of us with the artist to appreciate the enormity of the painting is on my Instagram here. I am well and truly humbled to be a muse to such talented and kind souls. It has always been an honor, but they’ve gone and made me blush. No easy task, I assure you!
There have been a few days of adventure between the hustle. (Which is oh so real.) We’ve visited Six Flags - the coasters for me, the water park for my partner. I got to see Author&Punisher open for 3Teeth at Reggie's. It was a bass in your bones kind of night. They’re both incredible live. I’ve seen A&P play at Cold Waves a few times. 3Teeth has opened on tour for both Tool and Rammstein, but seeing them in a more intimate setting than arenas and pavilions is the way to go. Most recently, my squad took to Bristol Renaissance Faire to model for Chainmalle Fashions. Cavorting in these fantasy costumes is a blast, being stopped for photos all day. We continued our annual tradition of the Bristol Pub Crawl, with bawdy jokes and filthy songs leading the way from mead to stout and back again. It was a beautiful day with gorgeous people steeped in Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.
Nerdlesque and Now I’m Nothing have got me performing more regularly again. It has been about a year since I took to the stage with the premiere NiN tribute band. As you might expect, the song I join them for is Closer. I had such a blast. They’re the kind of family that doesn’t matter how long you’ve been “off” once you get up next to them again it is like you’d never left. As for Nerdlesque, Bim Bam Boom is going strong at HeadQuarters - now biweekly! I’ve played twice in July, even debuting a new Bender B. Rodriguez prop head last week. I’ll be back on August 8th to geek out again. Maybe with a little religion this time. Pasta, anyone? ;)
Do us both a favor; listen to the namesake of this set while you peep it. Live from the Cook County Jail gives us BB King’s How Blue Can You Get?
